i was supposed to be born on december 25th and my mother wanted to name me merry.. instead i was born december 19th and my father named me mildred.

i'm a 13th December baby too Lilacs!!! and there were 3 just in my family when my mum was alive.
I was called Carol as in Chrisrmas Carol.My hubby's birthday is the same day as mine as was my mothers too!
My daughter is on the 10th so i'm pretty broke this month what with Christmas too.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY for the 13th- i'll make sure I get an extra bottle in to toast you and cassi's son and everyone else

my last attempts at posting were to no avail so i'm just going to test this out first and they edit and post something else.-it worked.. i have been reading a lot of the material on this website and find most of it interesting.
i'm still a witness but have some questions about bible/doctrine that haven't been answered to my satisfaction.
it seems that when i discuss things with people (i.e witness elders) they more or less don't listen to my arguements.

Glad you find the board of use and that you keep looking and getting your questions off your chest.
You ask what you would gain by leaving?Then perhaps now is'nt the time to leave
.I know when I had doubts and unanswered questions I hung around for a long time mulling over the losses I would suffer and the possible shunning etc.But eventually the decietfulness of the GB made it impossible for me to stay ,as the child abuse issues , the UN issue s and the double standards of some elders were too much to stomach.I could'nt be associated with an organisation who were so obviously hypocritical, but it took time to come to that decision and it was a difficult time.I assume when you have learnt more you will be in more of a position to make an informed decision about your future life. good to have you here

Hello Farkel, the point of the thread was'nt will Simon beat the WTBS( into a pulp or submission or in total membership numbers)
but - will Simons increase at the end of the year BEAT the WTBS ' published increase figures for 2002 .
Now i'm in permanant itallics and appear to be stressing everything and everyone by the sound of it!
If we were serious about 'beating' it we would need some serious money for advertising to educate people who were unable for what ever reason to visit the internet.I have sent fliers to halls ,health centres,dentists ,laundrettes (and where ever they leave theirs) with info about the WTBS on them alert people that, what ever they claim, they are a cult and reasons to avoid becoming involved.
The WTBS could be dented, but I feel that would only happen if they were perhaps to loose their charitable status and a lot of their new recruits and teen baptisms resulting in a catastrophic fall in confidence and membership .

As they get so hung up on their increase every year and the fact that they supposedly get 1% baptised at each assembly i'd just like them to be able to view ours

I think it's a great achievement just to keep it going!
This site has grown phenomenally ; which was the reason I started to wonder if the increase was comparable to theirs - I always imagined apostates to be such a small group. I like to think that when people first have a look here that they're encouraged by the daily rise in numbers and can see a significant number of people have had the courage to question.
I still say you'll win (percentages-not numbers)

i guess that everone knows that i will post a pic of a steam locomotive if the sightest opportunity presents itself.
sometimes i do it if a thread is getting heated, there's something about a pic of a steam engine that makes people smile, so it does often defuse a situation.. here's a bit of history:.
back in the early 60's, it was decided by the british railways management, that all of it's steam powered units would be replaced by the cheaper, cleaner diesel or electric locos.
